Our Busiest Year Ever! - Dec 2017
We are delighted to announce that we currently have double cause for celebration; we have just entered our 28th year trading and the last 12 months have been our busiest year ever since we launched the business in 1990.
It has been quite a journey and we have seen many changes within our industry, but we have never rested on our past success and we certainly don’t plan to start now. 2018 looks like it is going to be an exciting year for us with new pricing initiatives planned, along with implementing new strategies to further improve our levels of customer service, technical support and stock availability.
As 2017 draws to a close, we would like to take this opportunity to sincerely thank all of our customers for their business throughout this year and to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a very happy and prosperous New Year.
Tail Lift Weight Testing Trailer - Safety Bulletin - November 2017
The use of weight testing trailers in the tail lift industry is very popular, in fact our parent company Humberside Tail Lifts operates four of these.
During an internal review of our Safe Working Practices, it came to our attention that the handbrake on our trailers was not always engaging when applied and this was after the trailer had been backed onto the tail lift platform. We found that this was due to the reversing cam mechanism engaging which is fitted on all “braked” trailers and this was intermittently preventing our trailer handbrake working.
Whilst we have always used wheel chocks on our trailers in addition to a heavy duty securing strap during weight tests, if you operate a weight testing trailer we recommend that you review your Safe Working Practices in light of this information.
Raising Stock Levels, Reducing vehicle downtime! - September 2017
We are pleased to announce that we have recently increased our stock holding of genuine Tail Lift & Shutter parts by nearly 60% and this is to meet the increased demand for our parts since the beginning of this year.
This is definitely a win-win situation for both ourselves and our customers as it means that we are less reliant on our suppliers, it allows us to react more efficiently to our customer’s requirements and the end result is that we help our customers get their vehicles back on the road even faster. In an age when operators are doing everything possible to reduce their vehicle’s downtime, this step has been warmly welcomed by many national fleet users.
Moving forward, we also have ambitious plans to continue increasing our stock holding by further expanding our National Parts Centre warehouse. In addition, we are also currently recruiting more staff to manage the surge in business and our fourteen incoming telephone lines. Our key focus has always been on providing the very best levels of customer service and support, but with these new business initiatives we expect to further enhance our customer’s overall experience.

Dhollandia Genuine Parts - Quality lifted further with ZINC-NICKEL finish for small parts - December 2015
DHOLLANDIA has realized quantum leaps forward in the quality of finished product over the last decade. When DHOLLANDIA introduced Protection PLUS in 2007, this finish was right at the top of the average finish available in the tail lift industry. Some manufacturers offered zinc-phosphate plus powder coating. Other manufacturers offered epoxy KTL. But no one else offered the innovative technologies of 3-cation zinc-phosphate plus epoxy KTL plus polyester powder coating combined in one single finish process.
The introduction of HOT-DIP ZINC PLATING in 2012, was a next giant step towards offering maximum, unrivalled corrosion protection. DHOLLANDIA was the first manufacturer in mainland Europe to offer hot-dip zinc plating, or GALVANISED finish, as standard finish on a wide assortment of mainstream product. In the early days, clients could select either finish at the same price. Now, the large majority of clients choose to receive DHOLLANDIA lifts in hot-dip zinc plated finish for obvious quality reasons. Only a small portion of product is still supplied in Protection PLUS finish, which still ranks at the top of the available alternative finishes offered in the tail lift market.
Because of the great advantage that hot-dip zinc plating protects the outside and the inside of steel structures alike (*), the scope of application was quickly broadened from lift frames and mounting plates to complete steel cantilever platforms. (* e-coatings and conventional paint systems only provide outside corrosion protection, no inside enhancements).
Today, DHOLLANDIA embraces a prime-quality ZINC-NICKEL plating finish for the smaller mechanical structures, articulation pins, couplings, bolts, etc… ZINC-NICKEL offers a much better corrosion protection than the technologies used so far, apart from other advantages such as improved hardness and reduced hydrogen embrittlement. Qualities that will prove to be extremely useful on specific tail lift components, such has the articulation pins. Current plans also include the zinc-nickel plating of hydraulic cylinders. Apart from the rise in build quality, the assembly of zinc-plated cylinders on hot-dip zinc plated lift frames will definitely lead to more color homogeneity, and improved aesthetical looks.
Zinc-Nickel plating will be introduced gradually over the next couple of months, on newly built tail lifts first, and on spare parts for older lifts in a second phase. Loyal to the corporate values, these chemical processes are applied in state-of-the-art production lines, with maximum respect for our living environment.

January 2015 - 25 Years in business!
We are delighted to announce that we have now entered our 25th year of trading.
Formed by David and Julie Conman in 1990, we started life as a business operated from home and with the trading name of Humberside Taillift Services. It consisted of David and a 5 year old ex-Water Board Ford Transit van that was converted to carry out mobile Tail Lift repairs. “I clearly remember that first van and I have very fond memories of it,” said David “I also remember my very first mobile phone, although I think the term mobile back then wasn't quite like it is today!”
In 1997 we moved into new purpose built premises in Hull and with continued and significant expansion of this site, our Service Department and National Parts Centre still remain today.
A big turning point for the business came in 2004 with the creation of our parts4taillifts brand and the successful launch of this new brand at the CV Show in the same year. Since then we have seen significant and continued growth over the years. We now employ over 30 staff and are confident that we hold the largest all-makes stock of genuine Tail Lift & Shutter Parts in the country.
Our goal now is the same as it was in 2004: to offer a one-stop-shop for all makes of genuine Tail Lift & Shutter Parts at low prices, along with offering market leading levels of technical support from friendly and experienced Parts Advisors.
“We are absolutely thrilled to have reached this milestone which has been made possible by the incredible people we have working here and the fantastic support that we have received over the years from the manufacturers and from most importantly, our loyal customers.”

Sept 2013 - Maxon announce that they are pulling out of UK
Maxon Press Release: “We knew that entering the mature liftgate market in the UK would be difficult. Therefore ten years ago, we started looking for partners and acquisition targets in the UK”, declared Anton Griessner, VP Business Development. “Consequently in 2005, we started a cooperation with the Ray Smith Group. This project however abruptly ended with the unexpected receivership of RSG in December of 2007. In order to salvage our business investment, we decided to proceed with a pilot business development project and continued to look for acquisition opportunities for further development. Unfortunately at this point in time, we are out of options (for an acquisition) and have made the difficult decision to discontinue marketing our products in the UK.”
Our upmost concern is the welfare of our employees and existing customers. We sincerely hope that all members of the MAXON UK team will seamlessly find new employment opportunities. Rest assured that we will assist with this process in any way we can. To our existing customers, they too can be assured that we will keep supporting our Maxon products in their fleets. For years to come we will keep a large spare parts inventory with a partner organization in the UK. We will stand behind our product warranty agreements and will also keep up our established 3rd party service network.
“This is a sad time for everybody involved in the UK project. Everybody has worked very hard and performed exceptionally well. Thank you in advance for everyone’s support”, says Anton Griessner..

June 2013 - Safer Night-time Tail Lift Deliveries: Avoid trips, falls & collisions
More and more, operators are specifying tail lift lighting, says David Conman, MD of Parts4taillifts. "While most commercial vehicles have load compartment lights fitted, they are not designed to provide adequate lighting around the rear of the vehicle, which is arguably the most important area when it comes to preventing trips and falls," he says.
Parts4taillifts have now sold over 100 of their new Tail Lift Loading Lights for new builds currently being constructed by the UK’s leading trailer manufacturers and bodybuilders.
"Using the latest linear lens technology along with the most advanced LED chip design, this loading light projects a huge amount of light onto the Tail Lift platform and surrounding area,” says David. "And incredibly it only uses around the same amount of power as a 21 watt brake light bulb, so it will not flatten your batteries," he says.
Retrofitting is easy: the lights can be supplied with a heavy duty stainless steel channel that can be welded or bolted to the rear frame. On new builds, the lights should be recessed within the rear frame so as to conceal the unit and reduce risk of damage. Life expectancy is over 40,000-hours, which in most cases will exceed the life of the vehicle.
Parts4taillifts has also had much success with its Solar Powered Tail Lift warning lights. "We have sold around 500 of these since launch last January and we have had very positive feedback, however we have been able to improve its versatility even further” says David “our new batch of lights, arriving shortly, now have an additional internal switch which will also allow this light to be fitted on the side of the platform.”
The solar powered lights are on trial with many large national fleets. "CE Regulations state that tail lift platforms must be visible in poor light conditions and we feel that our new solar powered platform flashing light is a much brighter alternative to ineffective platform flags," he says.
"The advanced solar panel will charge the light even on the dullest winter's day producing up to an incredible 10-hours flash time from a mere 4-hour charge." said Conman "With a life expectancy of between 3-4 years, this light is more cost effective than your conventional platform flags and can last up to 8 times longer,” he added.

Jan 2013 - Is this the first ever SOLAR Powered Platform Flashing Light?
We have just launched our new and exclusive Solar Powered Platform Flashing Light and we are promoting this as an alternative to the conventional Platform Flags which are fitted onto most Tail Lifts.
“CE regulations state that Tail Lifts should be visible in poor light conditions and it is industry practice to fit a flag with a reflective strip to comply with this statutory requirement,” said David Conman MD “however, the flags visibility very quickly becomes compromised due to road dirt and wear and tear and so requires changing frequently. We feel that our light is a much brighter, modern and more cost effective alternative because it remains highly visible for its entire life.”
An internal switch turns the light off when the platform is stowed and the Solar Panel will charge the light even during the dullest of winter’s short days. Priced at only £12.50 each and with a life expectancy of 3-4 years, these lights work out cheaper than flags which usually need changing ever 6 months.
This SOLAR Light is now available to purchase from this site.

We are delighted to announce that we have a superb new product for sale. Our new Platform Flashing Light is completely self sufficient and needs no wiring – simply screw it onto your platform surface and the light will flash only when the platform is open. After prolonged testing we are delighted to find that the product ran for an amazing 1944hrs, which equates to an impressive 6.2 years life span. (Based on the lift being operated 1 hr a day, 6 days a week) Full details of this product will be on this website by 19th Oct along with the ability to purchase it online. If you wish to receive further details or discuss receiving a sample of this light please do not hesitate to contact us.

We are very pleased to hear that the Ross & Bonnyman brand is set to continue with Ross & Bonnyman’s assets been purchase by Aberdeen based company the XL Group. It is understood that at least 30 jobs will be created within the new business which will trade as Ross and Bonnyman XL Ltd and is due to re-commence activity at the Forfar factory as soon as possible.
Feb 2012 - Ross & Bonnyman gone into Liquidation
After trading for nearly 40 years we are sad to report that Scottish Tail Lift manufacturer Ross & Bonnyman have gone into liquidation.
We understand that a reduction in orders due to retail superstore and warehouse expansions being slower than anticipated along with public sector spending cuts affecting the ambulance lifts part of the business have contributed towards the company’s demise.
During 2011 Ross & Bonnyman ceased manufacturing their commercial Tail Lift range to concentrate on their other products including their Ambulance Tail Lift and in August 2011 they sold their Commercial Tail Lifts Parts business to Ratcliff Palfinger.
Future Ross & Bonnyman Parts Supply
Commercial Tail Lift Parts - We currently have excellent stocks of these parts and we are confident that our ability to supply these parts will be largely unaffected.
Ambulance Tail Lift Parts - We expect some initial disruption, however we are confident that this will be short lived and customers are encouraged to continue placing orders with us for these parts as normal.
Jan 2012 - Minimal Calls, No Fuss, MAXIMUM SERVICE
We all hate spending more time than necessary when making a call to a supplier. We want it to be a quick and easy process whilst not having to remember who we last spoke to in order to get an answer to a previous enquiry. That's why Parts-4-Tail Lifts has recently invested in a major upgrade to their IT systems in order to provide the very best telephone experience and level of service for their customers.
Customer benefits include:
• Minimal Calls
By utilising a vast amount of previous information along with the daily collection of new data, we will be able to answer your technical queries faster whilst reducing the need for call backs.
• No Fuss
Want to order a part that you enquired about a day, week or month ago, without the fuss of having to explain your requirements all over again? We have the technology! All previous enquiries for every single customer are stored in our database, which can be found quickly using advanced search facilities saving you time and effort.
• MAXIMUM SERVICE The clock starts ticking the minute we take a new enquiry and call back times are closely monitored to help us maintain a consistently high level of service. All information is easily accessible by any member of staff, which means you don't need to remember who you initially spoke to in order to get an informative response.
Nov 2011 - It's our Birthday......again!
Wow, where does the time go? We are now entering out 22nd year in business and I can still remember our first day trading.
Looking to the future, I believe as a business we will look back on 2011 as a pivotal year for us. During 2011, our whole emphasis has been on how we can improve the over all levels of service that we offer our customers and during 2011 we have invested huge resources into achieving this. Dec 2010 - Humberside Tail Lifts open new Nottingham operation
New Tail Lift Repair Specialist for Nottingham
When Nottingham’s established tail lift repairer Chaloss ceased trading at the end of November, Humberside Tail Lifts moved swiftly to offer employment to its two local Tail Lift Engineers.
Simon Perkins and Jonathan Buckley are fully trained and certified and join Humberside Tail Lifts having a combined experience of over 19 years with Chaloss working on Tail Lift and Shutter Doors.
“I was very sad to hear of Chaloss closing as I have known the people there for many years,” said David Conman MD, “After speaking to Simon and Jonathan we saw an opportunity to get together and set up a new operation in Nottingham and this geographically links up extremely well with our existing Lincolnshire tail lift repair business.”
Trading as Nottingham Tail Lifts, this new venture is now fully operational and already has two well stocked and fully equipped mobile service vans covering Nottingham and the surrounding area.

Nov 2010 - Ratcliff Palfinger acquire R&B Parts
RATCLIFF PALFINGER ACQUIRE THE ASSETS OF ROSS & BONNYMAN COMMERCIAL SPARES BUSINESS
After 37 years Ross & Bonnyman Limited has made a strategic business decision to cease manufacturing commercial vehicle tail lifts. Ross & Bonnyman will continue to manufacture ambulance lifts, yard lifts, lifting decks and other specialised engineered products.
Ratcliff Palfinger Limited has come to an agreement with Ross & Bonnyman Limited to acquire the assets of the commercial vehicle spare parts business and will transfer these to their operation at the National Parts Centre based in Garforth, near Leeds.
As part of the transfer, Ratcliff Palfinger will also undertake the existing commercial vehicle tail lift warranty obligations of Ross & Bonnyman.
Supported by the Ratcliff Palfinger 24-365 agent network, which generally overlaps with the Ross & Bonnyman agent network, there is a perfect synergy to maintain the customer service levels and supply of genuine Ross & Bonnyman spare parts.
This transfer is subject to OFT approval and until such approval has been received the business will continue as normal through Ross & Bonnyman.
Subject to OFT approval being granted, the trading of Ross & Bonnyman spare parts for commercial vehicle tail lifts will commence from Ratcliff Palfinger’s NPC. It is anticipated that this will be from 4th January 2011. Ross & Bonnyman will continue to supply spare parts for ambulance lifts and their other retained products from Forfar. A further communication will be issued in due course.
Nov 2010 - it's our Birthday!
As another year flies by and we enter our 21st year trading it's nice to take 10 minutes to reflect on the past 12 months.
Taking into account the current economic climate, we have had a very good year and once again I would like to sincerely thank all of our customers for their much valued business. I would also like to thank our staff who have all worked hard and performed extremely well in such challenging times.
Oct 2010 - Dark Nights are here again!
It is sometimes suggested that the importance of Tail Lift Platform warning flags are occasionally overlooked.
Legislation states that all Tail Lift Platforms must be visible in poor light conditions and whilst some manufacturers offer the option of platform marker lights, most tail lift manufacturers comply with this legislation by having high visibility marker flags fitted.
It is important that the reflective strip fitted onto this flag remains intact, should this reflective strip become damaged or insecure then the complete flag should be changed.
If you have any further queries regarding Tail Lift Flags or any other queries relating to Tail Lift legislation please call us and ask for David or Andrew.

January 2010 - New Offices
Like everyone, we found 2009 a challenging year. However despite the economic climate we did not want to sit back and rest on past laurels so were determined to continue to move our business forward.
As a consequence of this we made plans during 2009 to create new warehouse space by relocating our Parts and administrative offices into a new purpose built building. This move is now complete and provides us with the perfect space to maintain and further develop our service.
The extra space this has created within our warehouse has allowed us to reorganise our picking and packing area for greater efficiency and increase our stocking levels and stock range.
November 2009 - We're 20 Years Old!!
We have just entered our 20th year trading and things have certainly changed during the last 20 years.
When I set the business up in 1990 tail lift preventative maintenance was virtually unheard of, however with the introduction of LOLER in November 1998 and the improvement of general safety standards, most tail lifts are now well looked after.
Time flies past so quickly and this year been a blur, which is probably a good thing considering how it's been such a challenging time for everyone.
I would like to take this opportunity and sincerely thank every single one of our customers for their business throughout this year and throughout the last 20 years.
David Conman MD

May 2009 - Increased demand for RSG Tail Lift Parts
Even with the economic downturn, Parts4taillifts.com says it has seen a significant increase in demand for Ray Smith Group Tail Lift parts despite it now being nearly 18 months since they went into receivership.
“We have been delighted with our RSG Tail Lift parts growth over the last 12 months, with many new customers ordering from us,” said David Conman MD. “I feel these increased sales are partly down to the huge amount of RSG stock we now hold, and our ability to get the parts to our customers for the following day.”
January 2009 - CV Show 2009 cancelled
The Commercial Vehicle Partnership, comprising the SMMT, RHA and SOE, and the CV Show Committee, made up of the partners and representatives from the commercial vehicle and component sector, agreed today to cancel this year's CV Show scheduled for 28-30 April at Birmingham's NEC.
"This was a difficult decision but, on balance, the right one. What we learned from this exercise was that despite a generally negative response to 2009, there appears a much more positive approach to 2010 which encourages the Partnership to set plans in motion for a show in April of that year".Said RHA Chief Executive Roger King.
January 2009 - Trust us to Deliver - so you can too!
We just got bigger...and this isn't due to the amount of turkey we have eaten over the Christmas holidays! Over the past three weeks we have significantly increased our Stock Holding for our whole range of Tail Lift and Shutter Parts and these levels will be sustained throughout 2009.
This decision has been taken to allow us to give all of our customers an even greater level of support and service throughout 2009. In addition to this, our cut of times for the dispatch of orders sent from our National Parts Center is now 4.30pm with before 9.00am next day delivery also available.

June 2008 - Huge range of Ray Smith Group Tail Lift Parts now available.
Having now had 6 months trading history under our belts since the sad demise of the Ray Smith Group, we now have a much clearer picture of the market place. This has allowed us to bulk purchase popular lines and to build up our overall stocking levels.
Our current stocking policy, which we have had in place for the last 3 months, is to purchase enough of an RSG part to last us the following 6 months. As a consequence of this we now have a huge wide range of RSG parts on stock and we are continuing this stocking policy which will ensure that these levels are sustained.
An additional benefit of our bulk purchasing policy is that we can offer even greater savings on fast moving RSG parts. Please contact Dave or Andy on 01482 504444.
April 2008 - Quality enquiries for parts4taillifts at CV Show
At the CV Show for the fifth consecutive year, parts4taillifts said this year's event produced the highest quality of new enquiries yet. "It was great to see so many of our existing customers taking the time to come and see us whilst they were at the show," said David Conman, managing director. "I was also absolutely delighted with the quality of new enquiries we received. These could prove very significant to us."
April 2008 - Still the UK's No.1 supplier of Ray Smith Group Tail Lift Parts
Whilst price is very important in today’s market place, it stands for very little if a part arrives late or is incorrectly sent. The same applies when a customer is left wondering about the progress of their order, that is why it is crucial to us that our customers are kept updated. The one-stop-shop for all Tail Lift & Shutter Parts - No.1 for Service. Visit us at the CV Show this week stand 19-045, or call us on 01482 504444.

March 2008 - parts4taillifts purchase stock of RSG Tail Lift Parts from Administrator
In a move that will boost the confidence of many RSG Tail Lift operators and repairers, parts4taillifts have announced that they now hold a huge range of RSG parts.
Since the demise of RSG, parts4taillifts have been working tirelessly to establish new parts supply chains for the many RSG Tail Lifts that are currently operated by the UK’s haulage industry.
“Prior to Christmas we probably held the largest independent stock of RSG parts in the country,” said David Conman MD “Currently our stock holding is around 15 times that amount and now includes rams, PCB’s, controls, lift frames and platforms.”
parts4taillifts also continue to offer technical support for the full range of RSG Tail Lifts.
March 2008 - New Parts Dept. Staff
Chris Lane is leaving us at the end of the month for pastures new which are outside of our industry. Chris has been with us for 4 years now and whilst it is sad to see him leave I understand his decision and I, along with his work colleges, wish him and his family all the very best for the future.
As it is important that the replacement for Chris has a great deal of product knowledge, we have recruited one of our own Service Engineers to become a Parts Advisor. Steve Crossland has been working with us as a Tail Lift & Shutter Service Engineer for the last 4 years and will be making the move into the Parts Department from the 1st of March.
We are also delighted to announce that due to a continued and sustained increase in our Parts Sales, we have created an additional position within our Parts Department.
John Swallow will commence employment with us from the 10th March. John has worked within the motor trade all of his life and has over 18 years experience working as a Customer Service Manager. It is envisaged that John's Customer Services expertise will be fully utilised by the company in our drive to offer the very best in Customer Care.
February 2008 - Ray Smith Tail Lift Parts
We would like to announce that we are having a great deal of success in securing supply chains for Ray Smith Tail Lift Parts, a further announcement is expected shortly.
January 2008 - The Ray Smith Group - UPDATE
You are probably aware that the Ray Smith Group went into Administrative Receivership on the 19th December 2007 and immediately ceased trading.
This was a sad day for us as we have a long history with the Ray Smith Group. In fact RSG was the first tail lift manufacturer to appoint us official Spares & Service Agents when I first set up the business in November 1990.
Obviously there are still a large number of RSG tail lifts and demountable bodies in use and will continue to be used for many years to come. These inevitably will still need parts and technical support.
As one of the UK's leading RSG parts suppliers we are very confident that we can continue to offer parts for the RSG range and the necessary technical support.
Due to increased demand our stock of RSG parts is low at the moment, although we do still have stock and we have been working tirelessly over the last 3 weeks to secure future supply chains. Whilst I am pleased to inform you that we have had a great deal of success during this time, I feel that it will be some weeks, perhaps months before a full supply chain is established in the UK.
We would encourage all of our customers to continue placing orders with us for the full range of RSG parts and we will notify you of any shortages or delays relating to such orders.
Our priority at parts4taillifts.com is to be able to supply the entire range of RSG parts to all of our customers. We will continue to work closely with all parties and suppliers to enable us to achieve this in the shortest possible period of time. If you have any queries or if I can be of any further assistance please do not hesitate to contact me.
Thank you for your continued support and patience.
November 2007 - It's our birthday!...again!
Where do the years go? We have now just entered our 18th year trading and we have now occupied our current, purpose built site, for over 10 years. I still clearly remember painting the new workshop floor on a Sunday when my wife and my 2-year old son brought me some lunch.
That cute 2-year old little boy is now going to become a teenager on his next birthday - which is Christmas day. (but that's another story!)
Doesn't time fly!
David Conman - MD
September 2007 - Promotions & Introduction
I am delighted to inform you that Andy James has been promoted from Parts Supervisor to Parts Manager.
Andy has now been with the Company for over 12 years and has actually worked within our Parts Department for around 2 years having previously been employed as a Tail Lift Service Engineer.
To allow Andy time to manage his new role and greater responsibilities Andy will now answer general calls from 9.00am, however he will be available if specifically needed.
Chris and Phill will of course be available to answer calls from 8.00am.
I would also like to introduce you to relatively new member of staff. Richard Fryer has now been with the Company around 2 months working as our Stock Controller. It is intended that Richard will now start answering calls during busy periods. I have been very impressed with Richard during his short time with us and although it will take time for Richard to become technically experienced he is fully competent to deal with more straightforward enquiries.
